This year we have released 11 new jigsaw puzzles in our White Logo Collection, our range of design-led jigsaw puzzles especially for adults who are looking for more contemporary designs rather than traditional puzzle scenes.
To celebrate, we’ve been talking to some our fantastic artists who designed the gorgeous illustrations. Today we are talking to the talented Bethany Lord, the artist behind our brand-new Aquarium jigsaw.
What was the inspiration behind your new design?
I love illustrating different environments, especially underwater. I really wanted to create a really colourful full landscape piece exploring the underwater environment and different fish and animals. To make it a little different I put it within an aquarium to add another layer.
Can you share a little information about your creative process while working on Aquarium?
I approached this piece very differently to how I usually would. Instead of drafting up the whole piece and then colouring, I started building it up in colour straight away layer by layer, starting with the rocks and corals. I built on top of this by adding plants and then fish and finishing it with the top layer of lighting. It was fun to approach it differently and experiment with the layout as I went along.
