Yorkshire Day is coming up on the 1st of August and this annual celebration honours everything about Gods Own County, from its history to its most memorable residents. To celebrate this Yorkshire Day 2021, why not piece together one of our puzzles that capture the true beauty of this region. York (1000 piece)
This 1000 piece puzzle showcases what really makes York special! York is a historic walled city in North Yorkshire. The city was founded by the Romans in 71 AD and became the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior and later of the kingdoms of Northumbria and Jórvík. In the Middle Ages, York grew as a major wool trading centre and became the capital of the northern province of the Church of England. Nowadays, York is the hub for many services including the railway network and the NHS and is known for its eateries, music venues and century-old pubs.

Take a walk through history with this beautiful 1000 piece puzzle! Any visitor to the town of Staithes is going to be astounded by how much history such a small place can have. Nestled between the sea and the North York moors, Staithes is famous for its past fishing industry and hundreds of years of mineral production, an industry that continues to this present day. Staithes has also been home to many heroes including Captain James Cook and many brave souls whose names are recorded in stone on the War Memorial. It is also home to those who today, at the sound of the maroon, take the Staithes Lifeboat to sea as their ancestors have done for the last 100 years.

A highlight of Pickering Station in this 1000 piece puzzle is the magnificent roof structure which was recently re-instated to the same design as the original, built in 1847 by G T Andrews. The station itself is a great place to pick up a souvenir or you can pop into the traditional railway tearoom serving tasty meals and snacks, so even if you’re not big on trains it’s still worth a visit!
