The first Sutton Women Mean Business Awards ceremony to celebrate inspirational women who work or trade in the London Borough of Sutton was held on Tuesday, 12th November 2019.
Gibsons’ Managing Director, Kate Gibson, was shortlisted for Employer of the Year and went on to be awarded winner of the category. The event was an outstanding success, with 170 people gathering at Sutton’s landmark Quadrant House to see the presentation of the first awards and to hear the amazing stories of the inspirational winners.
Established by Successful Sutton with the support of the London Borough of Sutton, the awards programme aims to recognise and showcase exceptional female role models in the community. Providing a platform for many talented and entrepreneurial women in the borough, the programme demonstrates the contribution business and professional women make to the quality of life and the economy of the borough.
The awards programme sets itself apart by striving to recognise all women who make a difference regardless of role or sector. Be it a local female solo entrepreneur, a woman who provides exemplary customer service in retail, or a leader in the corporate business world. They also recognise those who go out of their way to support women in the workplace.
Kate Gibson, Managing Director comments, “Winning the Employer of the Year award means a huge amount to me as it recognises all of the efforts we have made over the last few years to make Gibsons a great place to work. It’s a real passion of mine so I feel very proud of our company, the team and the culture we have built. It was a fantastic evening of celebrations and I was honoured to meet so many great women and to hear about their truly amazing achievements within their area of work or in the community.”
