Earlier this year we released a brand-new collection of design-led jigsaw puzzles. There are now six 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles available in the White Logo range, all of which have been specifically selected for their striking designs and unconventional scenes.
With the recent wave of young adults wanting to take a ‘digital-detox’ and refrain from using their digital devices that can sometimes take over everyday life, puzzling is becoming a popular pastime as it is an excellent way to relive stress and focus on the present moment. Following these trends, our White Logo jigsaws are perfect for the new wave of puzzlers who are looking for more contemporary designs rather than traditional puzzle scenes.
Research is now showing the assessable benefits of puzzling for adults. Studies have shown that keeping the mind active with jigsaw puzzles can lead to a better quality of life and reduce our chances of developing certain types of mental illness, including memory loss and dementia.
According to Dr Newton, when completing a jigsaw puzzle both sides of the brain are engaged which enhances our ability to focus. Successfully placing a puzzle piece to create the wider picture encourages the production of dopamine, the neurotransmitter that regulates mood and affects concentration, motivation, memory and motor control. Piecing together a jigsaw is a great way to combat stress, but it is also beneficial for your physical health too. By refocusing the mind away from negative and stressful thoughts it decreases your cortisol and blood pressure levels, making both your body and mind healthy (Dr Newton, 2017).
To select the imagery, we interviewed prospective puzzlers who voted for their favourite designs* that didn’t conform to the conventional jigsaw illustrations. London Lights is the latest addition to the range where it’s Christmastime in London town and Regent Street is filled with light thanks to the annual twinkling Christmas decorations.
Kim Garrod, our Product Development Manager states, “Our classic jigsaws are some of the best on the market and are loved by all traditional puzzlers. However, we’re well aware of the importance of mindfulness among a younger age group and wanted to launch a range of striking, design-led puzzles that don’t conform to jigsaw puzzle traditions. So, we’ve also focused on creating innovative puzzle boxes that stand out on shelf and jigsaw designs by up-and-coming artists.”
Designed and manufactured in the UK, all our 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle pieces are the thickest on the market. They are made from 100% recycled board and are presented in compact boxes and are secured with paper tabs instead of shrink wrap to avoid excess plastic waste, adhering to our goal to reduce their carbon footprint.
*In a poll of 139 prospective puzzlers, the respondents voted for their favourite designs which were then selected for this range.
