The 15th May 2020 marks 101 years since Gibsons was established in London in 1919 by Harry Percy Gibson.
In the beginning, we sold classic games like ‘L’Attaque’ and ‘Dover Patrol’ and outdoor children’s games. In the 70s we launched 221b Baker Street (still a firm favourite today) and eventually in the 1980s that we introduced jigsaw puzzles to our collection.
Now in our fourth generation, with Harry Percy Gibson’s great-granddaughter Kate Gibson at the helm, our team and product offering have grown a lot. However, our values remain the same and ‘Bringing People Together’ underpins everything we do.
We’ve achieved a lot since our 100th birthday. We were awarded The Sutton Employer of the Year and accredited as an 'Investor in People'. We have launched best-selling product ranges, like our ‘Piecing Together’ collection that was specifically designed for those living with dementia, and our brand new, planet-friendly jigsaw puzzle box design. Our team has also grown as we welcomed two new members to the Gibsons gang.
There is no denying that 2020 has been a year like no other, but our team are working hard to ensure our customers have jigsaw puzzles and board games to enjoy. The current pandemic has taking a toll on everyone, mentally and physically, and we want to say a huge thank you to our suppliers, logistics team, manufacturers, and customers for being patient and working with us during this impossible time.
We have lots planned for our 101st year and will continue to bring you fun and exciting new products to keep you and your loved ones entertained.
So, here’s to 101 years of Gibsons, thank you for your continued support.
