Description
The Norseman at Doncaster; the London Kings Cross to Newcastle express, connects with shipping services to Norway. This 100 extra large piece puzzle, painted by the talented David Noble, takes us back to 1961 when the Gresley A4 No. 60025 'Falcon' stops to replenish its tender alongside V2 2-6-2 No. 60952.
This 100XXL piece puzzle has been painted by the talented artist David Noble. Made in the UK.
The pieces in our 100XXL puzzles are five times larger than those found in our 500 and 1000 piece puzzles. This means they are perfect for those who find larger piece counts too tricky, or those who are suffering with sight or handling difficulties.
As with all Gibsons jigsaws, we use 100% recycled puzzle board and work with the best artists from all around the world. The beautifully illustrated pieces are designed to fit perfectly together; in fact, we use the thickest puzzle board on the market.
We’ve made some positive changes to our processes, so you can be sure you’re getting the same great puzzles and know they are kinder to the environment. Not only does the box have a fresh new look, but we’ve used biodegradable clear labels to secure the lid instead of shrink wrap, reducing our plastic waste. We use vegetable-based inks too. The gloss coating on the box gives extra protection and the puzzle pieces are stored in a plastic bag that can be recycled by most councils.
Because the box is slightly smaller than our previous designs, we need less room to transport our products which reduces our carbon footprint and means you can store your puzzles more easily. We have also popped an artwork poster inside for you to reference whilst you piece together your lovely jigsaw puzzle.

About the artist
David Noble Leaving school in 1960, David worked at a local colliery for 12 years as an electrician, all the time painting and sketching his experiences in the dangerous working environment of the coal mine. In 1972, he won a scholarship to Ruskin College, Oxford and after completing his studies at Oxford and Hull Universities in 1978, he took up teaching at Rotherham College.
His love of steam engines and railways in general were directly inspired by his childhood experiences at Mexborough loco shed, where his father worked as a driver right up until the shed's closure in 1965. Now retired, he devotes more time to painting and drawing, whilst keeping busy fulfilling many commissions.
We work with talented artists from around the world and for every puzzle sold, a percentage of that sale goes directly to the artist.
