International Alzheimer's Awareness Day 2025

International Alzheimer's Awareness Day 2025
Posted on

Over 55 million people are estimated to be living with dementia around the world, a disease that can be incredibly isolating for both the sufferer and their loved ones.

The 21st September marks a global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer's disease and other dementia.

No one should face the disease alone, support can be found through The Alzheimer’s Society and The Alzheimer's Association.

About Alzheimer's Society

A charity that strives to support and strive for a world where dementia no longer affects lives and those around them. With our society that is built up of researchers, experts and campaigners, for over 40 years the society has been dealing with the biggest challenge that people are facing, dementia.

Did you know that there is a flower to represent Dementia

It is a forget-me-not, a beautiful blue flower that blooms from early spring to late summer.

Ways to mark Alzheimer's Awareness Day

  • Get Chatting: One of the best activities for the elderly is to enjoy friendly. However do not ask too many open-ended questions relating to their past, as this could lead to stress if they cannot remember the answer.
  • Music Sessions: Where you are a classics lover or a lover of more upbeat artists, music is a wonderful suggestion to spend some quality time with your loved ones.
  • Enjoy a Relaxing Walk: The fresh cold air, seeing the flowers in bloom or the falling autumn leaves. Whatever the season, whatever the time, enjoy the beautiful scenery on a beautiful walk around your neighbourhood.
  • Dementia Puzzles:

A perfect activity to do with your loved ones. We have a beautiful selection of puzzles from our 'Piecing Together' collection. These extra large jigsaw puzzles range of 12, 24 and 40 extra large pieces.

Our Piecing Together collection was created to support those who are experiencing dementia, limited motor skills or visual impairments. We have created these fun activities to help those enjoy alone time or with a loved one.
