It's been a busy month! We've had the privilege of appearing at three different shows in recent weeks - Toymaster, UK Games Expo and Astra. Each was a unique opportunity to connect with people, travel to different places and of course, to play some games.
We started by heading up north to Harrogate for this year's Toymaster. Our Commercial Director Amanda met our sales agents up at Harrogate's DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, braving the rain to go and attend.
Toymaster is fantastic for touching base with retailers and showing off our new products. We had plenty of updates to present, including our Spring 2024 Collection. Amanda and our sales agents had a great time and took plenty of orders. They also showcased a few sneak peeks from our July releases which will be dropping next month!
Next was UK Games Expo. This is the biggest games expo in the country, held up in Birmingham's NEC. This year there was a record-breaking 39,306 unique attendees! Our marketing team and games designer went to demo to the public and had a fantastic weekend of meeting, greeting, and gaming.
Our Team GB games Go for Gold and Ready Set Win proved incredibly popular. Many passers-by joined us for a quick game of Go for Gold - as a speed-matching game it was the perfect choice! Players use their rapid reflexes to grab cards and win medals, and some of the games were very lively to say the least. The overall victors were awarded chocolate medals - and gamers young and old universally loved playing.
Ready Set Win was also a hit. Being longer and more strategic, the games were more measured - but no less competitive! Gamers who tried it gave us glowing feedback. Stepping into the role of ace Team GB coaches, players compete to build the best teams they can to win medals. And, of course, the overall victor was awarded with (you guessed it) a chocolate medal.
Our old classic Hare and Tortoise received a lot of love from gaming enthusiasts - largely owing to it being the winner of the original Spiel des Jahres award. The show as always had a lovely, friendly atmosphere. We saw our customers, plenty of industry friends, and more than a few Daleks, Stormtroopers and Vikings.
Finally, Amanda and our Sales & Customer Service Team Leader Carrie went all the way to St. Louis, Missouri earlier this week to attend Astra, a trade show for toys and games taking place at America's Center Convention Complex. The trip was well worthwhile, strengthening our connections with our American retailers and forging new bonds with people in the industry out in the States as we continue expanding.
It's been a fantastic few weeks, and we're delighted with how the shows went. And with new releases just around the corner, the excitement never stops!
