5 Weeks of Playing Cards: How To Play Spoons

5 Weeks of Playing Cards: How To Play Spoons
Posted on

Throughout September, we showcased our beautiful Piatnik playing cards while teaching you how to play a new card game. We celebrated Digital Detox Day on the 5th September, and playing card games are a great way to turn off your digital devices and play some card games with your friends.

You can read our blog about other ways to have a digital detox here.

This week, learn how to play Speed.

This is an exciting, fast-paced game for 3+ players. The aim of the game is to collect a set of four cards and grab the spoon.

Aim

Collect a set of four cards and grab a spoon.

Set Up

Shuffle the cards and place the spoons in the middle of the table. Deal the cards out evenly to each player.

How To Play

To begin, decide which set you want to collect, but don’t tell the other players! The aim of the game is to be the first person to collect a set of four.

Take one card from your hand that you don’t want, place it face down on the table and slide it across to the player on your left. Each player does this simultaneously.

Continue passing cards until you have four cards of the same set. Once you have a set, you can grab a spoon from the middle of the table. The last person to grab a spoon is out.

For the next round, discard one set of cards and one spoon. Shuffle the cards and deal them out to the remaining players.

The game continues as above, until there are only two players and one spoon left. The person to grab the last spoon is the winner.

And that’s how you play Spoons. Have fun! If you enjoy playing, don’t forget to tag us on social with #GibsonsCardGames.

For this game we used our fantastic Glory Days of Rail playing cards.

Watch the instructional video below on how to play.
