Our team at Gibsons are always working hard to bring our customers the best jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and board games. So, we thought it was high time that we introduce you to the people behind the puzzles.
Meet Sam. Here is a pic of her enjoying the sunshine.
What do you do at Gibsons?
I’m the Marketing Manager at Gibsons and it’s my job to share our products and brand with the world. So, I create the Gibsons catalogues and adverts, manage our social platforms and PR campaigns, direct our video and photography shoots, manage the design of our exhibition stands at trade shows and help provide our website content. Working for a small team means that I get involved with lots of different products and no two days are the same.
What's your favourite Gibsons game? Are there any non-Gibsons games you love?
My favourite game has got to be Pass the Bomb the Big One. I went skiing with my family earlier on in the year and we spent hours every evening playing this game. The ball in the cup challenge gets me every time!
Other games I love playing with my family is Quirkle by Green Board Game Co and Phase 10 by Mattel. We all get extremely competitive and do everything we can to beat one another.

What’s your favourite puzzle?
It’s hard to choose between them! I am currently working on ‘Famous Felines’ which is a 1000 piece puzzle that features gorgeous cats wearing flower crowns. It’s a real challenge but I’m thoroughly enjoying it and will be sad when it’s complete! If I had to pick a favourite range, it would be our White Logo collection as I love the quirky designs.
How long have you worked at Gibsons?
I joined Gibsons as a placement student when I was 20 years old! For my placement year I was a Marketing Assistant and then I re-joined the company after I graduated in 2015. Every year at Gibsons has brought with it a new challenge and great new memories.
(We like to embarrass our colleagues by sharing a photo their early days at Gibsons. Here is Sam with some of the team back in 2013)
Speaking of memories… what’s your favourite Gibsons memory?
It’s hard to pick a single memory, but a highlight was definitely our 100th anniversary party at the Museum of London in May 2019. It was a wonderful evening and a chance to look back at everything we have achieved as a company since we were founded in 1919.
Other great memories are winning two Gift of the Year Awards at Spring Fair 2019 as this day also coincided with a colleague’s 40th birthday so we had a great celebratory meal with lots of bubbles afterwards!
And of course, I have to include the memories of day-to-day life at Gibsons – from the hilarious stories, celebratory lunches and accidentally matching outfits with our Marketing Executive Becky... our team are a brilliant bunch.
Tell us a fun fact!
I have a mild obsession with houseplants and currently own 32 in my one-bed flat! The dream is to one day have a house filled with plant babies.
What’s your favourite thing to do when you’re not at work?
I love to travel and explore new places with friends and loved ones. A group of my friends have formed a ‘dinner club’ where we eat out at a different independent restaurant once a month which is lots of fun as there are so many different places to try in London.
But when I’m not out and about, I love watching TV shows, going for runs, reading books and listening to podcasts whilst puzzling!
