#Gibsons100 - 100 challenges for 100 years
Posted on

2019 is a special year for us, as it marks 100 years since we first began trading as a British, family business back in 1919. Originally a games company, we first introduced jigsaws in the 1980s and after almost 40 years, we are proud to be the no.1 performing manufacturer in adult puzzles*.

To celebrate this momentous milestone, the Gibsons team have invented #Gibsons100, a scheme that encourages every Gibsons member to take part in a challenge or act of kindness to commemorate the 100 years of Gibsons. The plan is to undertake 100 challenges for 100 years of bringing games and puzzles to the UK.

To keep us on track, we will be regularly catching up with the team to find out how they are getting on with their training and challenges!

Kate, the Gibsons Managing Director is planning to conquer her fear of heights and undertake a 100m abseil at Peacehaven Cliffs with the rest of the Gibsons family, including her 9 year old daughter and her father Michael, our Chairman at Gibsons.

Bob, our Sales Agent for North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland will be doing a 100-mile cycle and has started training by cycling in Majorca where he cycled a total of 408 miles and climbed more than 35000 feet! He is also training for a marathon which will take place in October!

Adam and Mark are also doing a 100-mile cycle and in addition, Mark is also doing 100 bicycle rides in 2019. Here he is after his 10th ride of the year.7

Ros, Anne, Carrie, Sam, Kim and Kat are doing the Thames Bridge Trek which is a 25km trek across famous bridges throughout central London. They will all be raising money for the local children's charity, Jigsaw4U.

All of the ladies are training hard by going on lots of walks, with Sam having just returned from a walking holiday in the Peak District.

Becky taking part in the Marsden March on the 19th May, and will complete a 15 mile walk between our two hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Geoff, Sam, Rishi and Alice are challenging themselves by undertaking the O2 climb! The O2 climb will carry them 2 metres (6.5 feet) above the arena’s dome along a suspended fabric walkway.

Carole was planning on running 100 miles before the 15th of May but has unfortunately injured her foot at the start of her training due. She is planning to carry on once she is back to full health.

Finally, some of the team are challenging themselves a little differently. Amanda is trying to do 100 plastic-free days and Alice and Rishi have challenged themselves to avoid sugar and treats in the office for 100 days…here is a photo of Rishi looking very sad after missing out on some yummy cream cake!

We are looking forward to continuing with our training and challenges! If you would like to sponsor us as we raise money for our chosen charity, Jigsaw4U, please click the link below.
