Barry Freeman

On a warm July day in 1957, the down ’Bournemouth Belle’, hauled by ‘Merchant Navy’ pacific No. 35012 ‘United States Lines’, sweeps round the curve through Brockenhurst Station. In the adjacent sidings, class H15 4-6-0 No. 30476, on a running-in turn from Eastleigh, marshals a freight train before departing for Bournemouth via the Ringwood line. A push and pull train from Bournemouth to Brockenhurst, propelled by M7 0-4-4Tank No. 30029, approaches its destination and the Lymington branch train can just be seen in platform 4.

The 636 piece jigsaw puzzle is the same width as a standard 1,000 piece but not as tall. As with all Gibsons jigsaws, the beautifully illustrated pieces are made from the highest quality 100% recycled board and are therefore a pleasure to work with again and again.

Barry Freeman

Barry Freeman was born in Northampton in 1937. Following ten years in the Royal Navy and several years in the electronics and aviation industry, he took up teaching, drawing and painting before early retirement gave him the opportunity to become a professional artist. An avid railway enthusiast since childhood, his combined love of art and railways is reflected in the detailed paintings in which he now specialises. In 1995, Barry was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is a former deputy president of the Guild of Railway Artists.
