Gibsons take on the #Gibsons100 Challenge to raise money for Jigsaw4U
1st July 2019
We’re halfway through 2019 which is a special year for Gibsons, as it marks 100 years since we first began trading as a British, family business back in 1919.
As mentioned previously, to celebrate this momentous milestone, the Gibsons team are undertaking the #Gibsons100 challenge, which encourages every member to take part in a challenge or act of kindness to commemorate the 100 years of Gibsons and raise money for children’s charity, Jigsaw4U. We have been challenging ourselves all year, so here is an update on how we are getting on!
Kate is planning to conquer her fear of heights and undertake a 100ft abseil at Peacehaven Cliffs with sales agent Stuart Nicholas and the rest of the Gibsons family, including Kate’s 9 year old daughter and her father Michael, the Chairman at Gibsons. The group went to visit the cliffs at the end of June to talk through the process with the Peacehaven team and mentally prepare for the drop in a few months’ time. You can read all about Kate’s experience so far, here.
Bob, Gibsons Sales Agent, completed his 100-mile cycle in Mallorca and in doing so, climbed more than 35000 feet! He is also training for a marathon which will take place in October.
Mark and Adam are taking part in a 100-mile cycle in October and in addition, Mark is trying to complete 100 bicycle rides in 2019. He is halfway through his challenge and completed 50 rides last week!
Several members of the Gibsons team took part in the Toy Trust Triathlon in June, which included running 10k, swimming 750m in open water and cycling for 40 miles in the Oxford countryside.
Ros, Anne, Carrie, Sam, Kim and Kat are taking on The Thames Bridge Trek which is a 25km walk across famous bridges throughout central London and Becky, Gibsons’ Marketing Assistant completed the Marsden March on the 19th May, the 15 mile walk between the two hospitals in Chelsea and Sutton.
Finally, some of the team are challenging themselves a little differently. International Sales Manager Alice and Operations Assistant Rishi have challenged themselves to avoid sugar and treats in the office for 100 days…which has been extremely difficult given all the celebratory centenary cake that has been consumed! They are halfway through and still going strong.
The team would be hugely grateful for any donations big or small:
